Track your wins! It’s good for you – and your business!

As you get caught up in getting all your comms out, it can be difficult to know if they’re getting you the desired results.
This is your friendly reminder to review your content strategy. We want to celebrate your wins with you, and help you work on those things that aren’t working well.
What exactly should you be tracking? It really does depend on your business goals, but there are so many options. If anything, sometimes even deciding what to track might feel overwhelming. If your monthly tracking report looks like the below, it’s probably time to streamline a little!
To get a quick handle on your communication effectiveness, we recommend reviewing the following:
Opens/click-throughs on any of your emails. Although some email systems block the opening data, it should still give you a good indication of whether your audience is interested in your content.
Engagement with your social media posts. Do they get shared or liked?
Traffic to your site or calls to your business you can trace to your content.
The digital world lets us track pretty much everything (although consumers are fighting back against that more each day!). Instead of driving yourself nuts trying to understand everything your users do online, pick the things that matter most. That said, if you happen to have a data analyst on board, absolutely let them loose on your data – there’s a wealth of information in there, we’re sure.
Most of all, though, take some time to celebrate when something really clicks! We don’t say this just so you have a chance to pat yourself on the back. When you celebrate, you’re taking a minute to appreciate what worked so well… and giving yourself a chance to build on that success. Why did that particular post or newsletter get such a great result? Should you follow up with something similar, or is there an opportunity to shift gears slightly in a direction that’s even better for you?
If you’re so busy getting your content out that you don’t have time to review its effectiveness, we'd love to help. We can create and deliver your content strategy and track the content statistics for you. Contact the MRPR team today to discuss your needs.
