The MRPR team have been flat out the last few months creating blogs for ourselves and our clients, which started a debate within our team. Does blogging give your business the opportunity to share personal stories, or should it always be business-focused?
As with so many things in today’s world, the answer we came up with was ‘it depends’!
Blogging is a great way for you to create key content on a specific topic for your customers. Sharing blog posts to your social media is a great way to get new engagement on your site, but it also has a long-lasting benefit. By building content dedicated to a few key words or phrases (oh hello SEO!), you can boost your search engine rankings and establish your site as a trusted resource on that topic.
Blogging for businesses of all sizes
While this is a great strategy in general for your company’s blog, you may be missing opportunities to build deeper connections with your customers. We’ve found that the level of personal anecdotes companies choose to share tend to be in line with their size.
For a small business where you are the face of the company, sharing glimpses into your personal life may help your clients connect with you on a new level. Connecting your day-to-day life with theirs may spark reminders to re-order your products or services.
For large corporations, the personal touch might instead be sharing the company-sponsored fun run, or long service achievements of staff. Giving a human face to a business that may be largely impersonal may just put you ahead of your competitors.
If you need to create blogs that boost your business in the short and long term, call us today! Setting up a schedule of blogs to be released over the course of a year is a brilliant way to build value for you and your customers!
